This is the same question I ask myself every time I approach an historic center in Italy .. Oh my God! The cameras, restricted traffic zone, fines..
Maybe when we are back from our holiday we receive a nasty surprise by letter from police instead of greetings cards
But now we all have definitely improved our civic duty and realized that getting by car in front of a monument is a reminder of when we were kids and let’s face it .. luckily!
Luckily for us tourists, you can still reach the hotels of city centers by car to unload the luggage in order to appreciate the charm of staying in an historical palace.
Having an hotel reservation will allow you to access within the historical walls, to unload and load luggage in front of the hotel
Definitely should follow the instructions given you by the hotel rather than follow your GPS navigator to avoid a possible fine due to restricted traffic zones
As for the ‘Hotel L’Antico Pozzo, just follow the signs to the parking # 3 and # 4 “Bagnaia , you will get to a trafficlight, beyond which you will find yourself already within the historic walls of San Gimignano
The recommendation is to use the utmost care, respect speed limits, particularly the right of pedestrians and residents who may have chosen to live in the historic center just for peace of mind of not having traffic around.
After have you parked your car, then you will enjoy the pleasure to walk and breathe in the magic of San Gimignano in all its glory.
See you there!
